February 2023
Thank you for visiting my site, and welcome!
I'm Heather: A software engineer, author of the Texas Wine Trail Series, singer-songwriter on guitar and fiddle, and obsessive golfer who dreams of breaking 90 someday. (I have a very long way to go, so there's no rush.)
I am innately curious about life, and share my experiences through my words and music: It's how I relate to the world, and I'm grateful you listen!
As you may know, I am lucky to have the best companion in my sweet Pointer-mix, Dotty. (She's really the star of the show). We love to travel around, and spent the past 2 1/2 years living full-time in various RVs and circumnavigating the US. Our travel abruptly came to an end last fall when our RV roof blew off in Wyoming!
While waiting for a fix in Waco, we realized it was time to put our roots back down, and we sold our rig and happily made Central Texas our new full-time home.
I'm excited for this next year! I'll be dusting off the blog, and bringing you some fun travel stories from our past few years on the road.
Last year, Cactus Wedding released (paperback, May 2022), and I'll announce when it is available on audiobook early this Spring!
I am challenging myself to write book #3 in the Texas Wine Trail Series, Cactus Cradle, to release this Fall. This next book will have a mystery in the wine country and that should be lots of fun to write!
What am I learning this year? I'm focusing on being super intentional about "trying less" and trusting more. I have a new fiddle teacher from Edinburgh! I'm learning a Scottish tune every other week so that I can hopefully join in sessions next year when I visit. She's teaching me "tension free" bowing, and I feel like I can apply that to every area of my life.
I likely will not have time to do my podcast, but you can always tune into the archived episodes recorded during COVID in 2020 to give folks a different kind of boost.
Finally, I have some book events, and music gigs sprinkled over the next few months so do connect with me on social media so you get those dates! Also, you can sign up here for my email newsletter that will announce new blog posts, releases, and any other important events every month.
Thank you for following me, and I hope to see you in Texas this next year!
-xo Heather
