Author, podcast host, musician, dog-lover, and wine-enthusiast.

Heather has a diverse background that gives her a unique perspective on life. Ballet was her first love, and she danced professionally until retirement, when she turned her attention to other passions.

She obtained her B.A. from CUNY with honors, and founded a nonprofit in 2007 (Sunset-Ridge Waterfront Alliance) to bring sustainable transportation to NYC. Her work greatly influenced the awarding of the first EcoDock in the region (Bay Ridge, Brooklyn), leading to restoring commuter ferry service over a decade later.

Heather ventured down a few creative paths; documentary filmmaking (Hunter College MFA), teaching ballet for the professions (NYU), and dance videography (Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival), before leaving NYC.

While working in Boston for a healthcare software startup, Heather was introduced to a whole new world. She attended an online bootcamp, and began her journey as a full stack software engineer. Seven years later, she is a Lead Full Stack engineer at Stitch Fix.

Music has always had an important place in her life. A singer-songwriter under the stage name “Heather Ré”, she has released two albums, and performs on guitar and fiddle throughout the US.

Early on in the pandemic (2020), Heather launched the Flipping Dreams podcast where she interviewed guests who had taken bold leaps professionally and personally to live their best lives. Believing it’s never too late to achieve dreams, Heather challenged herself to reach for one of her goals of being an author.

She published the Texas Wine Trail Series, Cactus Christmas (2021), and Cactus Wedding (2022), and is currently working on book three of the series Cactus Cradle (2024).

She also took advantage of the opportunity to travel during the lockdown, and moved full-time into an RV, traveling around the US for two years collecting stories and inspiration.

Her latest venture: Producer & host of Traveling Troubadours podcast, dedicated to celebrating songwriters and artists through a weekly radio-style podcast as part of Rogue Media Network.

To unwind, you’ll find Heather chasing little white golf balls around her hometown course in Waco, learning Scottish fiddle tunes, and hanging out with her partner in crime, Dotty. A pointer-mix rescue who has been her best companion for over 5 years.
